Licensing

How licensing works

Most of my plugins run free in Q-SYS Designer emulation, so you can explore and test them before committing to a purchase. Where a plugin can be made to work in emulation, I have done that, but some depend on real hardware and only run on a Q-SYS Core. When you're ready to unlock the full experience, a one-time licence activation is all it takes.

Not every plugin needs a licence. My free plugins (Radio Browser, Weather) run on Q-SYS Core hardware at no cost, download and deploy them without buying anything, and they never touch the activation flow. The four-step flow and the licence terms below apply to my licensed plugins, which run free in emulation wherever that is possible, and need one one-time licence per Core to run on hardware.

Download and test

Download any plugin and load it into Q-SYS Designer. Most run with full functionality in emulation, so you can evaluate them properly before you buy. A few need a physical Q-SYS Core to do anything useful, typically where the plugin depends on device certificates or live network streaming, and each product page says which applies.

Buy a licence

Purchase one licence per Q-SYS Core. You receive an Activation Code by email as soon as your order is processed.

Activate on your Core

Enter your Activation Code and your Q-SYS Core Locking ID on the activation page. You get back a Plugin Activation Key to paste into the plugin.

Runs offline

Once activated, the plugin validates its key locally on the Core. No internet connection and no call home is required for normal operation.

Before you buy

Please note that all licences are:

  • Permanent and non-revocable once activated.
  • Locked to one Q-SYS Core, activation binds the licence to that Core's Locking ID, and it cannot be moved to another Core.
  • 30-day money-back guarantee, void on activation, an unactivated licence is refunded in full within 30 days, no questions asked. Activating it ends that guarantee; the refund policy sets out when I may still help.

One licence covers one Q-SYS Core and unlimited instances of that plugin on it.

If a deployed Core fails or is replaced, contact me. A licence is locked to its Core, but if that Core dies and is swapped out, for example a warranty return, email me and I'll arrange a replacement licence for the new Core so the plugin keeps working.
